Healthcare Centre
ARC4025 Design Devices
Design Statement
For this project I designed the interior of a healthcare centre, I chose the Sandwell site for this project as I preferred the location, shape and size of the building therefore I could manipulate it easily. I chose mental health patients as my clients for this project as there are a lot of different concepts and ideas I could include in my design related to this. I specifically looked into OCD out of all the different types of mental illnesses because I wanted to develop this into my concept. When I first started looking for a concept idea I looked at images related to mental health and a photo of a cogg inside a head stood out to me so I developed this into my design. I drew up the Sandwell site on Vectorworks and decided where I would like my entrance, reception, waiting area, consultant rooms and specialist rooms to be located. I included my concept into my design by creating the reception desk as a large curved shape and I added another arc on the floor of the main open plan area so that the waiting area would have a different floor finish to the entrance and reception therefore it would split the space up without using walls which I think would have made the space too closed in.
